Our Baby Making Process Pt. 1

So here we go! The wife and I have started the baby making process! Go ahead and ask it… How do Lesbians have a baby?  You all probably have so many questions and it’s okay…  SO DO WE!

We want to take you on this baby making journey with us! We already met with the Advance Reproductive specialists — they’re the ones who are pointing us in the right direction. They gave us a list of steps we need to take to prepare my body and to make sure that everything is healthy and good to go!

The first step was bloodwork for the CMV test. See CMV test definition HERE (it’s okay we had no idea what that was either) The reason why this test is important is because we are using a donor.  Whatever my test results are… I have to find a donor with the same results! It’s crazy right?!  I just kept thinking  “geez some people who make babies don’t even know the name of the person they’re in bed with!”  …. BUT this is learning process for us and “out of the norm” so we have to follow FDA rules.

The second thing I had to do was go get the Ovarian Reserve bloodwork done  and that is where this video picks up…

And that’s where we are today! Unfortunately (or Fortunately) my CMV test came back negative and the donor we had our eyes on was positive so that means we have to look for a new donor! We were a little upset when we found out the results but we realized that everything happens for reason. The perfect donor is out there and we will know it when we find him.  Our next appointment is on Wednesday which is the ultrasound and the physical! We will keep you posted on the process! In the meantime PLEASE feel free to ask us any questions <3

Congrat! My wife and I have been together for 15 years and started this process in 2004. We now have a 12 year old daughter and a 10 year old son. It’s stressful and trying at times but totally worth it. Good Luck!

My wife and I went through this same process. Sadly for us, it was only heart breaks. After trying at the clinic for over a year with IVF, we decided it was time to try, on our own, at home. We had a friend donate to us (in a cup) and after doing things our way, after just two attempts, we were finally pregnant. Now we have a beautiful 19 month old baby boy. It is a long stressful, heart breaking, yet amazing and beautiful experience and I wish you the best of luck.

My wife and I were also in the Ledger news paper, and on channel 8 (wfla) news, after we became pregnant. When we got pregnant we found out that since my wife was pregnant and I was not a man that I had no rights to our son. I could not be on the birth certificate, paper work, make medical decisions (if something happened to my wife). I had to do a “step-parent adoption”. Now, things in Florida have changed and married same sex couples can be on the birth certificate and have legal rights over the children they have together. Yet it is still suggested to have a step-parent adoption, as not every state in the U.S. will except the birth certificate.

We have totally looked in to all of this and I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that! Luckily.. things have somewhat moved (slowly) in the right direction! Missy and I will Both be on the birth certificate! Thank you for sharing your story with me!
